JEWELLERY CARE

General Care

Precious metals, in particular sterling silver, are subject to natural tarnishing over time. But this can be mitigated by removing your jewellery before cleaning, swimming, bathing and applying lotions or makeup.

To remove tarnish, polished jewellery can be gently rubbed down with a jeweller’s soft polishing cloth. It is advised, however, that polishing cloths should not be used on pieces with a patinated or oxidised finish (see below).

In order to prevent pieces from being scratched in storage, it is best to store them separately in the original presentation box in which they arrived.

Jewellery with a Patinated/Oxidised Finish

Over time silver naturally oxidises and blackens. This process can be chemically accelerated to give a glossy black finish known as a patina. Though patina is sealed, it will overtime fade or change slightly in colour. This process differs in time and intensity depending on how you wear or handle the piece. Storing the piece in its original presentation box will help in maintaining its patina.

Please note that for each of the pieces listed in the shop/collections pages on the website, we have advised (in the ‘additional information’ sections) on how best to care for that particular piece.
